Here is the setup – You have a bunch of training videos in your Membership site and your Members need to locate one of the videos to help with their current project.
They know the video they are looking for has something to do with customizing the footer of their WordPress site but the Member has zero clue which of the zillion videos on your site is the one they need.
Your site search feature cannot search the audio of each video so the Members are left to do a lengthy & tedious search, contact you for support (then you do the lengthy tedious search) or just give up and continue to take no action.
Two reasons that come to mind are reselling and as a shortcut to product creation.
I’ll cover the ‘reselling’ reason in a future post but for now, I want to talk about using PLR videos for product creation.
I want to preface this post by saying there is little if any instant steps involved in re-purposing content of any kind. It will take some effort whether the effort comes from you or you outsource it.
The thing is though, when you compare the effort involved in re-purposing versus creating from scratch, it is pretty darn close to effortless.
Okay, with that out of the way, this PLR video re-purposing tip will use the audio transcripts from the video, a newly recorded voiceover .wav or .mp3 file and some screen-grabs from sections of the original video.
This can be entirely done with free tools if you need to, but I’m using Camtasia Studio 8 to put everything together, Snagit for the screen-grabs, PowerPoint 2010 for the “PPT Slides” and Audacity for the newly recorded audio voiceover.
By the way, when I want to try and do things on the cheap, one site I refer to often is http://alternativeto.net/ When you get there, top right corner of the page is a search box where you enter the name of the program you would like an ‘Alternative’ to. Many of the results are open source or free options.
When I get the time, I’ll put together a demo using all free tools but for now, this is it. That being said, all the premium tools I use in this demo have a free trial or evaluation version so no more excuses. You’re Welcome 🙂
So watch, learn & take action. By the way, this video is from one of the other sites I use for WordPress training called PLR4WP
Do you buy them for a quick return on your expense – or do you buy them in order to create an entirely new product? Like most any other PLR product, PLR videos can simply be an ingredient to what can become your own brand new product creation.
When I have asked this question before, most of the replies are about how difficult it is to re-purpose videos.
If giving the plr videos a total makeover was not difficult, but merely time consuming..would that make a difference?
Comparing eBook resell and video resell, I would have to say that all things equal, the videos would command a much higher return.
If you spend time to re-do the graphics, sales copy and give the eBook text a bit of a spin to end up with a unique product, why couldn’t / shouldn’t you do the same with the plr videos?
There are several ways you can ‘spin’ the video to end up with a unique product and would take a fraction of the time that it would take to do the video from scratch.
Again, just like the plr eBook. No research needed, and no special skill set required other than a tad bit of patience.
Here are a few ways you can crank out new and unique products from your private label rights videos. BTW, no one said that you can only re-purpose a set of videos once..I have 3 series of videos on Twitter floating around the web that have the same audio but 3 completely different looks.
The following ideas require at least Camtasia Studio version 6.0.3 (they have a free trail period of 30 days I believe) to unlock the audio from the video – Sony Vegas will do this as well. The latest version of Camtasia Studio (at the time of this post) is 7.1 and it can do some pretty cool stuff. Among them is the audio-to-text feature. How much do you pay to have your videos transcribed? Just wondering…
1. After you have unlocked the audio from the video (I show you how in the video below), you can remove the video completely and have only the audio. Save as a MP3 file & you now have an Audio eBook.
2. You can get screen-captures (print screen) of certain parts of the video and with Open-Office Writer you can add the images to a odt or doc file along with some text you added that you heard from the video and then export as a PDF and now you have a brand new eBook that you can add affiliate links or your own product links to and give away or sell.
3. Combine ideas 1 & 2 for a more valuable product – or if selling one, add the other as an upsell.
4. If the language of the video is not the primary language of your customer base, use the audio-to-text feature or have the video transcribed and record yourself reading the transcriptions in your language.
Unlock the audio from the video then sync your narration to the video.
Here is a video from one of my video series titled Your PLR Makeover that covers unlocking the audio from the video.
It is a bit over 12 minutes long but in my humble & unbiased opinion I believe it covers some quality information – you be the judge:
I’ve listed here, only a few ways you can re-purpose your PLR videos. I cover a couple of other ways in the ‘Your PLR Makeover‘ series on how you can edit your PLR videos as well as editing PLR eBooks.
My hope is that these tips & techniques may spawn a few of your own ideas and combined, you will no longer feel the need to simply resell plr videos (or eBooks) As-Is.
How do you market your plr videos – the easy way..or the other way?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I’m looking forward to hearing your responses.
